Get to know a Panda: Gal Tadmor
What’s one of your superpowers or something people would be surprised to know about you?
My superpower is doing multiple things at once. I can code, eat lunch and watch something on YouTube at the same time. I also love playing the bass, going to metal concerts and watching soccer.
How would you describe what BigPanda does?
Imagine a daily planner that tells you what’s the best way to get to work, what the weather is like, which meetings you have today… Instead of opening each application on your own, one-by-one, you get the TL;DR digest that is personalized just for you. BigPanda integrates with dozens of systems and displays the data in a simple and understandable way, in one centralized interface. At the end of the day, you won’t waste time opening yet another monitoring system; you’ll just solve your problems faster.
What is your best memory of BigPanda / What do you love about BigPanda?
What I love about BigPanda is the togetherness and transparency. I started working at BigPanda just two weeks before we all had to start working remotely. Our OKRs, my personal aspirations and the sync between the teams – nothing was harmed along the way. We’ve even managed to recruit some great people to important positions, to have an end-of-week toast and deploy many exciting features. To weather the storm in such a graceful way is truly amazing.
Before BigPanda, what was a cool, interesting, or hilarious job you worked?
When I was a kid, I wanted to buy soccer trading cards, but I didn’t have any money. So I drew some fake soccer trading cards, sold them to my family, and used the money to buy myself the real ones. I was so young and yet resourceful, that they had to support my shady business venture.
How would you describe what you do to your friends or family?
Being a full-stack developer, I usually simplify my day-to-day tasks by comparing them to the development of well known SaaS systems and websites, like Google Calendar or Facebook.
