Nadav Ben Uryan, Software Engineer – Tel Aviv
ML Ops engineer. Father. Pro napper.
What did you do before BigPanda?
I started my career as an internal tool developer and then moved to infrastructure development.
After that, I made the switch into the world of data where I worked as a data engineer.
That path eventually led me to the world of machine learning and enablement, and now finally here as an ML Ops engineer.
What was your favorite part about your experience in those fields?
My favorite part was definitely getting into the world of data. There are some very talented people in the field, and it was amazing to get to work alongside them. BigPanda really preserves that and has such a talented group of people.
What led you to be interested in BigPanda?
When contemplating my next career step, I established three things that were most important to me. The first was an organization that solves a real problem. The second was finding something that would personally challenge me. And the last was the company really needed to have awesome people behind it. BigPanda checked all of these boxes for me and so much more. The Panda logo was just an added bonus.
What do you enjoy the most about your career now?
It’s really exciting to work in an emerging field that is full of new challenges and paradigms. There’s always something new to learn here. I love that I work on a team that builds new solutions from the ground up, and they really give us a lot of creative freedom and responsibility.
How do you find balance between work, your home and your professional life?
In the past, I always managed to maintain some balance between my work and personal life—but when my first child was born last year, my life was turned upside down. I’m still finding my way, and probably making some mistakes, but thankfully both my family and my work family are very supportive. They’re always there to provide good advice, a helping hand and lots of coffee.
What’s one of your superpowers?
I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime!
