Get to know a Panda: Dennis Zheleznyak
How do you describe what you do to your friends or family?
That’s a tough one! Basically, I just say that as a Devops engineer I work behind the scenes to allow the developers to get things done. I take care of the infrastructure, automation and pretty much everything else…and they get all the credit.
How do you explain what BigPanda does?
Imagine a one stop shop like Walmart, where you can find pretty much everything. BigPanda is exactly that for IT teams. We offer customers a centralized place to see all of their IT Operations data. Like Walmart, who carries a wide variety of brands, BigPanda has integrations for many different tools and platforms. BigPanda also analyzes and searches for patterns and correlations in our customer’s data to provide them with a better understanding of and visibility around incidents in real time.
What do you love about BigPanda?
I love the people, the transparency from leadership and the motivation everyone has to achieve their goals and complete their missions. Most of all, the management team really cares about the employees here and they all make sure to connect with employees as people…it also helps that they spoil us quite a bit. The other thing I really love about BigPanda is our branded swag: the t-shirts are my daily go-to.
What was one of your first jobs?
From the ages of 16 to 18, I worked for a moving company, and in that time, I also had a short, awkward tenure at McDonalds. When I turned 21, I started working for an Internet Service Provider as a Technical Support Representative. I worked there for two years, and I consider it to be my first “real job” in the tech industry.
What’s one of your superpowers?
Annoying my wife.
